Examine for yourself 14 of the main teachings of the LGBTQ+ community from both the progressive view (revisionist, affirming) and the conservative view (traditional, non-affirming), both views presented through the lens of scripture.
Sexuality Examined, takes a deep dive into the 14 teachings (assumptions,) demonstrating Jerry’s wealth of Biblical Scholarship and insight as he speaks the truth in love. He presents years of study and information that will help every preacher, teacher, professor and lay-person, understand God’s original intent for mankind.
The assumptions are as follows:
- The background for Romans 1:18-32 is the Wisdom of Solomon.
- Paul does not address modern same-sex relationships.
- Same-sex relationships are condemned only in the context of pagan idol worship.
- The term unnatural refers to heterosexual men and women engaging in non-procreative sexual relations.
- Paul objects to same-sex relationships because they do not enable procreation and require one male partner to act in a submissive role - something Paul thought was shameful.
- Paul only opposes same-sex relationships in the context of excessive passion and lust.
- Romans 1:18-32 is not the voice of Paul...but is a diatribe using the words of a legalist Jew’s indictment of Gentile behavior.
- Genesis 2:24 stresses sameness and not difference between males and females.
- Leviticus’ texts are not applicable to modern same-sex relationships.
- I Cor. 6:9-11and I Tim. 1:10 refer only to abusive relationships and do not address modern same-sex relationships.
- Paul had no knowledge of the modern concept of sexual orientation.
- Covenant fidelity, exclusive of sexual union or procreation, is the foundation (or cornerstone) of biblical marriage.
- Historical evidence does not indicate early Christians held a negative attitude toward homosexuality.
- Slavery, marriage, and eunuchs indicate a “trajectory” toward acceptance of same-sex relationships.
